“Red Hail… because it never ends” has been produced in 2015 as a tribute to the Armenian Genocide. Notwithstanding the fact that Red Hail was based on the Armenian history and the Armenian Genocide, it is a manifest of peace all around the world, raising the voices of those nations who suffer devastating consequences of genocide and telling unheard stories of fallen innocent lives.
The project was based on a photo entitled “Some of Our Little Girls with Their Dolls” taken in the Western Armenia in 1910 by Bodil Biørn, Norwegian missionary worker, who was doing humanitarian work in the Western Armenia. About 5 years later, mass extermination of Armenians in the Ottoman Empire, The Armenian Genocide occurred which took the lives of nearly 1.5 Armenians within 1915-1923. These children were among half a million Armenian children who fell victims to the Armenian Genocide.
The “Red Hail” video art has been created as a result of interaction between photography and Armenian sacred music of the 5th to the 20th centuries with fresh and youthful representation. The interaction of music and photography symbolizes the resurrection of fallen children, lost lives and symbolizes the continuation of their interrupted childhood and infinite games.
