Elvira was born in Mexico City (Mexico) in 1967. Since 1991, her performance art practice follows personal research on humanistic issues by means of many forms of action art (chamber performance, public interventions, processes, urban actions and Insitu installations). For her, action art is an existential practice of self-knowledge and humanistic engagement. Its poetics postulate self-creation through symbolic acts. These create important reference points in the evolution of the artist´s consciousness, but the un-symbolic act is the true dimension of the present.

Acciones Urbanas in Bogotá is about mourning and psychological regeneration after the traumatic experiences of more than a half Century of political and social violence in Colombia. My intention was honouring also the victims by giving to the actual citizens a visual apparition of what could represent for them a sign of hope renewal, introducing in public spaces symbolic-poetic actions in the most collective plural environment, which is the Street. I felt compelled, in my own terms, to promote human empathy, not only to feel in the place of the other, but also to repair and enhance the values that protected human live. By means of symbolic actions, I built situations for the passers-by related to their collective memories, sorrows and present anxieties to help generating energetic ideas of moving onwards, specially when justice has not made the first step, however, I address the individuals, trying to promote in him or her, the transit of traumatic memory to the most essential human values and life energies.
In this art works I found a deep personal sense and conviction that action art express its essence in direct dialog with the reality and living contexts, since then my art practice and posture have enhance my aesthetic conceptual system on the ephemeral art forms.
